Masala chai will forever be associated with long, sisterly conversations with my East Coast friend “vlb”.  Her home and kitchen were my home and kitchen and I miss her dearly while I’m in California.  I drew her the cup of chai I made for myself one  lonely night so that we could share a cup across the span of the continent.
